Privacy Policy

HaircutAI is built to answer one question — how a haircut will look on you — with as little of your data as possible. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what happens to it.

Photos you take

Selfies you capture in the app are uploaded over an encrypted connection to our servers, where they are processed to analyze your face shape and generate haircut previews. We do not sell your photos or share them for advertising. The AI providers below process photos to provide these features under their own applicable terms and data policies.

Face data

HaircutAI works with the face in the photo you choose. This is what that means in practice:

• On your device. Apple's Vision framework finds your face and its landmarks (such as eyes and chin) in the photo. The app uses this only to check that your face is centered, to show the scan animation, and to line up before and after images. These landmarks stay on your device. They are never sent to our servers or to anyone else.
• On our servers. When you start an analysis, your photo is sent to our servers and analyzed by Alibaba (Qwen, listed below). The result is three labels: a face shape (for example "oval"), a hair color, and a gender label. We store these three labels with your anonymous device identifier. We do not store face landmarks, face measurements, or any face template, and we do not use your face to identify you.
• What it is used for. The photo and the labels are used only to recommend haircuts and to generate haircut previews for you. We do not use them for advertising or tracking, we do not sell them, and we do not use them to train AI models.
• Who receives it. Only the AI providers listed in the next section, and only to deliver these features.
• How long we keep it. See "Data retention and deletion" below.

Who processes your photos

• Alibaba (Qwen, through Alibaba Cloud Model Studio) receives access to your uploaded photo through a time-limited link, along with analysis instructions, to identify your face shape and other visible hair characteristics. Alibaba Cloud Model Studio privacy notice.
• Google (Gemini) receives your photo and the requested hairstyle instructions to generate haircut previews when Gemini generation is used. Google Gemini API terms and data policy.
• OpenAI receives your photo and hairstyle instructions when an OpenAI image generation option is used. Google or OpenAI handles generation depending on the app's configuration. OpenAI API data controls and retention policy.

The sample-photo option uses AI-generated model portraits and previously generated haircut results. It does not require you to upload a photo or send a new analysis or generation request to these providers.

What we collect automatically

• An anonymous device identifier — a random ID created on first launch, used to associate your generations and purchases with your device. It is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID.
• Purchase state — subscription status is managed by Apple and our payments partner (RevenueCat) so premium features unlock correctly. We never see your payment details.
• Diagnostics — crash reports and error events (via Sentry) that help us fix bugs. These do not include your photos.

What we don't collect

• No account, email, or sign-up is required to use the app.
• No contacts, location, or browsing history.
• No third-party advertising trackers.

Data retention and deletion

• Analysis copy of your photo: deleted after 24 hours by our hourly prune-analysis-temp cleanup job.
• Uploaded photos not used for a haircut preview: deleted after 2 hours.
• Face shape, hair color, and gender labels in our usage log: deleted after 90 days.
• Face shape and gender labels in our internal cost records: kept with the cost of each analysis, linked only to your anonymous device identifier, until you ask us to delete them.
• Photos used for a haircut preview, and the previews: kept so you can revisit them in your gallery, until you ask us to delete them.

These periods apply to our own storage. AI providers keep copies only under their own policies linked above.

You can delete looks from the gallery on your device at any time. To remove your uploaded photos, generations, and face labels from our servers, contact us at support@haircutai.co and we will delete them.

Children

HaircutAI is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with an updated date above.
